Cooking in Your Boat
Enjoying time with your family and friends on your boat is a great way to spend a weekend afternoon. However, you do need to keep everyone fed, especially if you’re going to be out on the water for a while. And if you’re hosting a party, then good food and drinks are a must! Cooking on your boat may sound like a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some recommendations to help you make easy work of preparing food on your boat.
Get a Boat Grill
Special boat grills can be attached to the side of your boat or mounted to a swivel seat. These grills make it easy to prepare hot foods like fresh grilled fish, chicken, vegetable kebabs, burgers, and hot dogs. Make sure you exercise caution while grilling and especially with using the fuel for your grill, which will likely need to be stored securely when not in use.
Cut Foods on Shore
Instead of trying to wield a knife while on choppy waters (no pun intended), you can cut up fruits, meats, and vegetables on shore or even at home and store them in Tupperware containers so you can season and cook them easily.
Make Clean-Up a Cinch
Finally, you’re going to have to have a strategy around clean-up. You’ll probably use disposable plates and cutlery, as this is easier than lugging a lot of dishes on and off your boat, so have some trash bags handy, along with paper towels, spray cleaner, and a lidded container for recyclables like cans and bottles.
